The Good Practice and Experience Exchange can happen through the Peer Review. This kind of external evaluation has the aim of supporting the educational systems evaluated in development initiatives and of quality assurance.
An external group of professionals (Peers) is called to evaluate the quality of some areas of the institution/provider, as the education and training offer quality, dispensed by the single department or by the entire institution. During the evaluation process, the Peers will be visiting the examined institution.
The Peers are external Teachers/Educators who work in a context similar to the examined one and have a special experience and professionality in the field.
The Peer Review activity may have a duration of 3-5 days, featured by a peer revision-visit in a school institute or an educational centre of the territory and by the summary preparation of the conducted activities.
Advantages and benefits of the Peer Review as a development and quality assurance tool. The benefits that a European institute/centre of Professional Formation and Education (PFE) can expect from a Peer Review (as stated in the current Manual) are:
- get an effective but friendly feedback from expert colleagues concerning the PFE quality,
- be informed on the external perspectives,
- verify the formation and education quality provided,
- show the own strong points and good practice,
- increase the responsibility of stakeholders,
- find lacks and weak points,
- get advice and discover Peers’ good practice,
- commitment for a mutual learning process with the Peers,
- create networks and cooperate with other institutions and PFE centres,
- obtain a feedback of the external evaluation on the education and formation quality at a relatively low cost.
